Plastic Technologies, Inc. to Exhibit at McCormick Place, Chicago
oPTISM bottle. PTI has developed the first lightweight foamed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle/jar blow molding process. Marketed under the oPTISM (pronounced “opti”) brand name, the process is based on MuCell® technology licensed from Trexel, Inc. The capability will now provide food and beverage brand owners with a broader range of PET container aesthetics and performance capabilities than previously possible.
LNOc international licensing. A new modular system to produce Phoenix Technologies’ LNO™c food grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) resin is now available for global licensing. For the past two years, LNO™c resin has been produced for commercial use in the United States. More recently, a modular, low energy, small footprint system has been built as a response to increased global demand for post-consumer, food grade rPET for blow molding, injection molding and thermoforming applications. The modular system is ideal for companies who want to quickly and easily incorporate commercially-proven rPET production into their own facilities.
Small quantity extrusion prototypes. PTI is one of the first companies to offer film and sheet prototyping capability from small resin quantities (10 to 40 pounds). The company can deliver the multilayer cast film and sheet products within two weeks. The prototyping capability includes up to three materials and five layers. Materials include, but are not limited to, polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene and barrier polymers (such as ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and nylon). Emerging biomaterials such as polylactic acid (PLA) can also be prototyped.
